These files allow you to create the slab format portable computer kit once popular in the 1980s and now reimagined to allow the use of external USB devices, expansive port customization, and accommodation of any single board computer, custom devices, and batteries.
This Open Source version of the READY! MODEL 100 MK I was created in thanks to the hundreds if not tens of thousands of individuals who have contributed to the body of Open Source software, hardware and standards of which READY! Computer Corporation depends upon. We would not be where we are today without the tireless and often thankless efforts across the decades.
We hope that with the release of these files, that anyone with the faculty to produce it can do so at no cost from us. In the spirit of Open Source designs, we have established a Creative Commons license to allow alteration but to discourage commercial distribution of these files and the derivatives that we welcome from the community.
The cutouts on the rear panel of our design are D-Type rack mount cutouts, the keyboard accommodates any 64 key PCB, but the LCD requires a unique 1920×480 module that may not be available over time. The speakers are 1.5″ or 40mm in diameter. The small holes on the rear accommodate female-female SMA antenna couplers, and the side panels have two sets of holes for guitar strap lock mounts. We encourage the development of alternative top plates to use it with future devices and components with ease. This top plate is 100% compatible with that included in our READY! MODEL 100 MARK I.
This open source edition of the READY! MODEL 100 requires a CNC of roughly 400mm x 300mm bed space and a 3D printer of 250mm x 250mm.
The design was made to hold 1.5mm thick sheet metal. The 3d printable slots expect a 1.5mm panel.
